KUALA LUMPUR – The spirit of youth empowerment and future-ready workforce development took centre stage as NIOSH joined the Prime Minister’s Engagement Session with Malaysian Indian Students held at Dewan Tunku Canselor, Universiti Malaya.
The programme was graced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Minister of Human Resources, YB Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan. Organised by the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (MITRA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Human Resources, the initiative brought together students from across the country to explore opportunities in education, skills development and future careers.
Led by its Executive Director Dato’ Haji Ayop Salleh, the NIOSH delegation engaged directly with students through an interactive exhibition booth and career-sharing sessions focused on the growing importance of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH).
Students were introduced to various career pathways and initiatives under NIOSH, including opportunities as OSH Practitioners, post-retirement training careers, the OSH-C Madani programme and the Safety Induction for Tourism Industry (SITI) initiative.
NIOSH’s participation reflects its continued commitment to nurturing future-ready talent by providing greater exposure to industry-driven skills, professional development and emerging career opportunities in OSH.

🔬 NIOSH Research & Development (R&D)
Research and Development (R&D) constitutes one of the core functions of NIOSH. To effectively manage and coordinate all R&D activities, a Research Management Centre (RMC) has been established within the Institute.
RMC serves as the driving force behind NIOSH’s research excellence through the following responsibilities:
- Promote multidisciplinary OSH research aligned with NIOSH priorities.
- Facilitate high-impact collaborative research.
- Monitor and coordinate research projects and collaboration strategically.
- Disseminate research outcomes to stakeholders.
💡 NIOSH Outcome-Based Research Grant
The NIOSH Outcome-Based Research Grant supports innovative studies that deliver measurable outcomes and practical benefits for the OSH community. Applications are open twice a year, subject to availability and competitive selection.

To be considered, proposed projects must:
