NIOSH Membership

What are the benefits of becoming a NIOSH member?

NIOSH Membership is designed to develop a community of members who are committed, professional, knowledgeable, and skilled in the field of Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment (OSHE).

This includes:

  • Professionals involved in the design, management, and manufacturing of OSH equipment.
  • Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) practitioners.
  • Corporate organisations, including small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
  • Academicians involved in the field of Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment (OSHE).

What are the different types of NIOSH membership?

Individual Membership
Open to Malaysian citizens who are involved in occupational safety and health (OSH) or work in a safety and health-related environment.

Corporate Membership
Open to companies incorporated under the Companies Act 1965 or organisations registered under the Societies Act 1966.

Can a subsidiary of a company become a NIOSH member?

Corporate membership is limited to companies approved by the Board and does not extend to their subsidiary companies. Each subsidiary is required to submit a separate application for membership.

What is the duration of a NIOSH membership?

The duration of membership is one (1) year, starting from January to December of the year.

Can NIOSH terminate a member’s membership?

  • Members who fail to pay their membership fees within six (6) months from the membership expiry date will have their membership suspended.
  • Membership will only be reinstated upon full settlement of all outstanding membership fees.
  • If payment is not received within twelve (12) months from the membership expiry date, the membership will be terminated without further notice.

What is the membership fee?

Individual Membership (initial RM600.00)

  • Entrance : RM500.00
  • Annual Subscription : RM100.00

Corporate membership (initial RM1,500.00)

  • Entrance : RM1,200.00
  • Annual Subscription : RM300.00

How do I apply for NIOSH membership?

Individual Membership:

  • Fill in relevant form.
  • Submit application with the relevant documents (Copy of IC, Resume and Certificates).
  • Payment should be made payable to NIOSH and address to the Executive Secretary NIOSH.

Corporate Membership:

  • Fill in relevant form.
  • Copy of nominee;s IC/ passport, Organisation chart showing designation of the nominee in the company and Company Registration Certificate.
  • Payment should be made payable to NIOSH and address to the Executive Secretary NIOSH.

Training

How do I register for a NIOSH training course?

  • Access the NIOSH e-Daftar System to browse the Course Calendar and select the course you wish to attend.
  • Choose your preferred training location and course date.
  • Complete the online registration form in the e-Daftar System.
  • Select your preferred payment method.
  • Make payment for the course fee through the available online payment options. Your registration will be confirmed once payment has been successfully received.
  • Download your offer letter and other registration details from the NIOSH e-Daftar System after your registration has been confirmed.

What are the requirements to attend a NIOSH training course?

Am I eligible to become a NIOSH facilitator or trainer?

You may qualify to become a NIOSH facilitator/trainer if you meet any of the following criteria:

  • Possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and have at least five (5) years of relevant working experience; or
  • Possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, Chemistry, Medicine, Health, or Environmental Studies and have at least five (5) years of relevant working experience; or
  • Possess a minimum of ten (10) years of working experience in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) or a related field; and/or
  • Possess a competency certificate recognised by the Government of Malaysia.

Administrative Information

Course Admission

NIOSH has implemented an online registration system through the NIOSH e-Daftar System, where applicants can browse the Course Calendar and register for available training programmes.

Admission is subject to availability and is processed on a first-come, first-served basis. NIOSH reserves the right to refuse or cancel any registration if the applicant fails to complete the required payment or does not meet the programme’s admission requirements.

Payment

  • Course registration is confirmed only after the course fee has been successfully paid online.
  • Registration fees are non-refundable for participants who have registered but fail to attend the course.
  • Employers will be charged the full course fee for participants registered under the Special SBL Training Scheme who withdraw from or fail to attend the course.
  • All course fees are subject to an 8% Service Tax (where applicable).

Cancellation/Failure to Attend

Once a registration has been confirmed, the course fee remains payable unless a written notice of cancellation is received as follows:

  • Cancellation received at least seven (7) days before the course commencement date: A full refund will be issued, less an administrative fee of RM50.00.
  • Cancellation received less than seven (7) days before the course commencement date: No refund will be provided.

Venue

Training courses are primarily conducted at the NIOSH headquarters in Bandar Baru Bangi and at our regional offices in Penang, Alor Setar, Manjung, Melaka, Johor Bahru, Pasir Gudang, Kuantan, Kemaman, Kota Bharu, Kota Kinabalu, Labuan, Sandakan, Tawau, Kuching, Miri, and Bintulu (Sarawak), unless otherwise specified.

In-house training programmes can also be conducted at a venue designated by the client.

Additional Information

  • Registration is from 8:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., and training sessions commence between 8:45 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. The detailed course programme will be provided upon registration. Participants are advised to arrive early.
  • Effective 1 January 2024, NIOSH no longer provides food and beverages during training. Participants are encouraged to bring their own meals or purchase food from vendors within the NIOSH premises or nearby shops and restaurants.
  • Dress Code: Smart casual attire is acceptable. However, round-neck T-shirts, shorts, sandals, and slippers are not permitted in the training rooms. Participants are also advised to bring a jacket or additional clothing, as some training rooms may be kept at a low temperature.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): For site visits or practical sessions, participants may be required to wear appropriate PPE. Please bring your own safety helmet, safety boots, hearing protection, safety gloves, and any other required PPE.
  • Calculator: Participants are encouraged to bring a calculator for practical exercises and calculation-related activities.
