Deputy Minister of Human Resources YB Datuk Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan officially opened the 26th Conference and Exhibition on Occupational Safety and Health (COSH 2026) at MITEC, Kuala Lumpur, on 14 September 2026.

Themed “Wellbeing at Work”, COSH 2026 brings together industry players, policymakers, experts, researchers and occupational safety and health (OSH) practitioners from Malaysia and abroad to share expertise, explore innovations and seek solutions to emerging workplace challenges.

Another highlight of the opening ceremony was the launch of the Water Industry Safety Passport (WiSP) by the Deputy Minister. Developed through collaboration between NIOSH, the National Water Services Commission (SPAN) and industry players, WiSP provides a specialised and standardised approach to OSH training for the water services workforce.

WiSP also demonstrates how strategic collaboration can be translated into action and practical solutions by bringing together the expertise of government, NIOSH and industry to address sector-specific needs and enhance worker protection.

COSH 2026 is not merely a platform for sharing ideas, but a platform for turning ideas into action, collaboration into solutions, and innovation into impact.

Also present at the opening ceremony were YB Chong Chieng Jen, Chairman of NIOSH; Dato’ Ahmad Firdaus bin Baharuddin, Under Secretary, Development, Finance and Human Resources Division, Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA); Dato’ Haji Ayop Salleh, Executive Director of NIOSH; Ir. Prof. Vincent Ho, Secretary General of the Asia Pacific Occupational Safety and Health Organisation (APOSHO); and Dato’ Haji Ahmad Faizal Abdul Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of SPAN.

COSH 2026 is being held over two days, bringing together more than 1,300 participants, 80 exhibitors and 40 local and international speakers.
